Description
Your Mission
For us, design is about creating clarity and momentum.
AI has made it easier than ever to produce work. What’s harder now is making sure that work actually makes sense, solves real problems, and moves things forward. That’s where you come in.
As a Senior Experience Designer, you help teams figure out what’s worth building, how it should work, and why it matters in the first place. You care about making things simple, useful, and inclusive, but you also care about whether they’re actually used.
Over time, your impact won’t just show up in the work. It’ll show up in how teams think, decide, and build.
The role you play
Your involvement starts early, sometimes before a project is even clearly defined. Rather than just executing on a brief, your voice helps shape the direction.
Designing for intent matters just as much as designing for screens. This means figuring out how systems should behave, when they need to ask for permission, and how they communicate what they are doing behind the scenes.
Expect to spend as much time asking the right questions as you do designing. By connecting the dots between user needs, business goals, and technical realities, you empower teams to make decisions they can stand behind.
We share work early and often. Rough ideas are always welcome here. There is no isolated pixel-polishing for a grand reveal; instead, you are in it with the team from day one.
What you’ll be responsible for
1. Product & Experience Leadership
- Define and lead end-to-end digital experiences across web and product ecosystems
- Shape product direction by identifying user needs, business opportunities, and strategic trade-offs
- Ensure experiences are intuitive, accessible, and built for real-world adoption
- Translate ambiguity into clear, actionable design direction
2. Systems Thinking & Design at Scale
- Build and evolve scalable, component-based design systems
- Establish strong defaults, reusable patterns, and shared logic across projects
- Standardize workflows that reduce rework and increase consistency
- Protect design quality through structure, not heroics
3. Content Modelling & Information Architecture
- Define structured content models that support flexible, reusable, and scalable digital experiences
- Architect content and metadata structures that establish a foundational 'ground truth' for agentic AI, ensuring information is modeled for both human understanding and machine context.
- Collaborate with engineering and content teams to align design systems with CMS and data structures
- Ensure content is treated as a system, not static pages
- Design for adaptability across channels, platforms, and future states
- Simplify complex information into clear, usable structures that drive understanding and adoption
4. AI Design Practice
- Integrate AI into design workflows to accelerate exploration, iteration, and delivery
- Define agentic behaviors by architecting how systems operate on behalf of users, identifying critical human-in-the-loop interventions, and ensuring systems fail gracefully.
- Ensure AI-driven features remain understandable, trustworthy, and human-centred
- Balance speed with judgment, maintaining coherence as output scales
- Architect non-deterministic experiences that prioritize user intent and systemic guardrails over rigid, point-and-click paths
- Architect transparent and trustworthy experiences that clarify agent intent and logic, ensuring users understand system actions and possess the intuitive controls to course-correct
5. Research, Strategy & Insight
- Conduct, review, and lead the team to implement quantitative and qualitative research
- Lead the creation of personas, journey maps, user flows, service blueprints and experience frameworks
- Develop value proposition canvases and user flows that align user needs with business value
- Connect research directly to product decisions and outcomes
6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment
- Work closely with cross-functional teams across design, strategy, and technology
- Facilitate alignment early with client stakeholders (interviews & workshops) to communicate rationale, make decisions visible and reduce downstream friction
- Navigate change management across both frontstage and backstage systems
- Lead cross-functional planning activities like story mapping to translate design files into actionable requirements for the technology team, ensuring alignment on scope and functionality
7. Craft, Quality & Execution
- Deliver high-quality, thoughtful design solutions from concept through execution
- Push the team forward in areas like motion, accessibility, conversational UI, and designing for latency (keeping users engaged while systems 'think').
- Ensure quality holds even as velocity increases
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and high standards
8. Mentorship & Team Growth
- Mentor designers to think in systems, not just screens
- Foster a culture of iteration, curiosity, and shared ownership
- Help the team adopt AI tools and workflows responsibly and effectively
- Contribute to hiring with a focus on leverage, not headcount
How you think
- You care more about whether something works than whether it looks impressive
- You’d rather build something reusable than something flashy and one-off
- You know speed is useless if it leads to confusion
- You’re confident with AI, but you don’t blindly trust it
- You focus on outcomes. Not just files, screens, or presentations
- You’re comfortable architecting for probability rather than certainty, establishing systemic guardrails to navigate non-deterministic AI outputs
What you bring
- 5+ years designing digital products or experiences in an agency or SaaS environment
- Proven ability to clearly present and communicate research findings and data driven design decisions to external and internal stakeholders
- Well-versed in facilitation techniques that enable groups to build clarity and alignment in a workshop setting
- Experience with design systems and scalable thinking
- Comfort working in ambiguity without waiting for perfect direction
- A collaborative mindset. You don’t disappear for two weeks and come back with “the answer”
- Bonus: Service Design experience & digital agency experience
- Bonus: Experience in brand design and or art direction and creative work
AI Mindset
- You already use AI in your workflow, or you’re actively figuring it out
- You think critically about where AI helps and where it hurts
- You’re curious, adaptable, and not precious about process
Work Arrangement
- We are a 'Work from Anywhere' company, however, you must be able to work within PST (Pacific Standard Time). Preference will be given to candidates in British Columbia due to proximity to client and team
- Full-time contract with a high likelihood of leading to full-time within 6 months
Compensation
$90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
