Senior Technical Project Manager (Front-end)

hybrid
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada .
contract . December 12, 2025

Description

*Please note that this role is primarily remote, but our client would require some in-person sessions at their office in North Vancouver*

This role will start immediately once we find the right candidate and run until May 29, 2026. Total approximate hours for this contract is 650 (which is approximately 30-35 hours/week minus stat holidays and office closure between Christmas and New Years). The total number of hours will depend on start date.

About the role

Power Shifter is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager with a strong front-end background to support a multi-phase discovery project for a major insurance company. Discovery is already underway, and core architectural direction has been established.

Why this role matters:
This initiative sits at the intersection of customer experience, design systems, and engineering. The team needs someone who excels at structured facilitation, navigating ambiguity, and keeping work moving with decisions passing through a central stakeholder with a strong presence. The right person will create clarity, maintain momentum, and bridge conversations across multiple departments in an environment where information can be fragmented and alignment requires constant development.
This is not a hands-on engineering role. It is not a solutions architect role. It is a people heavy, facilitation heavy, tactically focused role meant for someone who thrives inside enterprise complexity.

What you will do

  • Lead structured workshops and working sessions that bring CX, IT, business, and vendor teams into alignment.

  • Manage through uncertain requirements, shifting priorities, and ambiguity by translating discussions into clear, actionable outputs.

  • Prepare and maintain front end capability mapping, component inventories, and documentation that supports downstream planning.

  • Define front-end architectural recommendations including modularity, reuse, integration points, accessibility, and performance considerations.

  • Synthesize inputs from technical workshops into front-end capability and component recommendations that are practical to implement.

  • Support decision making by helping identify which items can be resolved within the working group and which require broader alignment.

  • Maintain strong communication loops between Power Shifter leadership and client stakeholders.

  • Work closely with the PM and BA to ensure consistent progress across tracks of work.

  • Help maintain structure and forward movement when key stakeholders arrive late, change direction, or revisit prior decisions.

You will own deliverables such as:

  • Workshop agendas, facilitation, and follow up documentation

  • Current state front-end documentation, including frameworks, integration points, and feasibility insights across streams

  • Front-end capability and component mapping that aligns UX features to modular components

  • Front-end architectural recommendations at the component and integration level, aligned with the enterprise target architecture

  • Front-end design system framework guidance that ensures consistency with enterprise patterns and integration constraints

  • Contentful content model recommendations focused on front end compatibility, API alignment, and integration with the enterprise information model

  • Cross stream alignment documentation across CX, IT, and Business

  • Inputs into the high level migration plan, including front end sequencing needs, UI dependencies, and integration considerations

  • The front-end implementation plan, including resourcing, timing, risks, and assumptions

  • Technical enablement recommendations and documentation that support the next Statement of Work and overall program roadmap

What this role is not

  • Hands-on coding

  • Deep solution architecture

  • Business requirements documentation

  • A traditional agency digital PM role

This work is positioned as technical enablement, not engineering and not design leadership.

What success looks like

  • Workshops remain productive and focused even when discussions evolve, directions shift, or earlier decisions need to be revisited.

  • Teams feel supported and guided, not stalled.

  • You consistently translate complex or evolving inputs into structured outputs.

  • Ability to maintain calm and clarity when conversations become cyclical, complex or move away from concrete next steps.

  • The initiative keeps its momentum even when decisions must be funneled through a single senior stakeholder with inconsistent engagement patterns.

Who you are

This job is ideal for someone who has worked inside large enterprises, crown corporations, or other environments with complex governance.

You bring:
  • 6 plus years in technical project management, technical consulting, or hybrid PM roles with strong front end understanding

  • Familiarity with component based FE frameworks and headless CMS concepts

  • Strong facilitation skills and comfort running workshops with senior, sometimes dominant stakeholders

  • Ability to stay calm, patient, and organized when requirements shift or leadership changes direction

  • High resilience and emotional intelligence

  • Experience navigating decision making models where approvals must flow through a single senior stakeholder and where input may arrive late or change without warning.

Nice to have

  • Insurance or government experience

  • Exposure to React, Vue, or Next.js (conceptual, not hands on)

  • Experience working with large multi vendor teams

  • A background in both consulting and enterprise delivery environments

Compensation

$70.00 - $90.00 per hour
